Churwell CIC provides free early education for 2 year olds and 3-4 year olds through its PLAY@Churwell setting.

At PLAY@Churwell Day Nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework which is designed to ensure that children learn and develop well and gain the broad range of knowledge and skills to provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

PLAY@Churwell Day Nursery provides funded early education for 9 months to 4 years old under the government funded scheme.

The Working Families Entitlement offers, from September 2025, 30 hours of funded early education and childcare during termtime for children aged 9 Months and over. Check your eligibility at childcarechoices.gov.uk.

For children aged 2-4 years not eligible for 30 hours:

• some 2 year olds are entitled to 15 hours a week during term-time from the term after their 2nd birthday. You can check if you are eligible with the Leeds Family Information Service.
• 3-4 year old children are entitled to a free 15 hour place the term after their 3rd birthday to when they start school.

Our service is flexible, regardless of whether you are entitled to 15 or 30 hours of free early education and childcare. We are open from 7:30 to 18:00 for 51 weeks of the year and we can agree a pattern of sessions to suit the needs of you and your child. This includes ‘stretching’ your free hours to cover school holidays. You can also book additional paid for sessions.
