Churwell CIC: PLAY@Churwell Forest School

A Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning that aims to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences. By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment each participant has an opportunity to develop self-awareness, motivation and sound emotional & social skills.

PLAY@Churwell Forest School focuses on our love for outdoor learning and the natural environment and runs in school holidays for children aged 5-11 years (Y1-Y6). We aim to strengthen life skills through exploration of the world around us stimulating & encouraging children’s natural curiosity. Children are able to play and develop new skills, be more physically active and improve wellbeing. Activities build resilience with team-working and risk-taking and of course your child will have lots of fun.

Example activities include den building, arts & crafts, music, drama, games, cooking outdoors as well as the old favourites like lego.

To get the best out of the experience you will need suitable clothing for the outdoors such as warm clothes, wellies, waterproofs, hats & gloves and spare clothing. If you have any outgrown waterproofs or wellies we would be pleased for any donations.
